What exactly is China's policy on 'Multi-Level Marketing?'

Whilst reading the following article, bear in mind that there is no quantifiable evidence (e.g. income tax payment receipts) proving that anyone who has a signed a contract with an 'Amway' copycat, so-called 'Multi-Level Marketing Direct Selling' company offering a so-called 'income/business opportunity,' has actually established a lawful, and commercially viable, business, in which an overall net-income has been generated (after the deduction of all start-up and operating costs) via the regular retailing of goods/services for a profit based on value and demand to members of the general public (i.e. persons who are not fellow 'MLM' contractors motivated by a false expectation of future reward). Thus, anyone claiming or implying that one penny of overall net-income, let alone life changing sums of money, can be generated lawfully by participating in a so-called 'MLM direct selling income/business opportunity,' cannot be telling the truth and will not provide any quantifiable evidence to back up his/her non-specific anecdotal statements.

'Tiens' kitsch propaganda has claimed 14 million adherents around the world, and the group's bosses have established corporate Trojan Horses in more than one hundred countries.

An article I posted five years ago, was in response to essentially the same question.

My article was entitled:

The 'Herbalife (HLF) MLM' racket has only survived in China due to regulatory ignorance and corruption.

'Why do MLMs still exist in China when MLMs are illegal there?'

In truth, this question is essentially the same as asking:

Why do frauds still exist everywhere when frauds are illegal everywhere?

In 2005, China introduced a law entitled:

'Regulation of Direct Sales and Regulation on Prohibition of Chuanxiao' 
(Chuanxiao = 'Multi-Level Marketing'). 

This attempt at common-sense legislation was (supposedly) designed to establish a clear and unambiguous legal distinction between traditional, sustainable, single level direct selling and economically-unviable, endless-chain, pay-to-play recruitment frauds disguised as 'direct selling.'

According to certain reports, during the drafting of this legislation, representatives of some of the largest US-based so-called 'MLM' companies were consulted by Chinese government officials, but I have not bothered to verify this claim. For even if this was true and these particular officials were not corrupt, once you know how 'MLM' cultic rackets have functioned, it becomes obvious that one of the devious tactics pursued by their bosses has been to agree to comply with any form of legislation proposed by trade regulators (including attempts to ban 'MLM' rackets) in order to establish their corporate Trojan Horses around the globe.

Thus, according to the 2005 Chinese law, traditional single level, direct sales schemes in which participants can reasonably expect to earn commission by regularly selling goods/services externally to the general public (based on value and demand) are permitted in China, but (intrinsically-fraudulent) so-called 'Multi-Level Marketing income opportunity' schemes which, by design, generate no significant, or sustainable, revenue other than that deriving from their own ill-informed participants' internal purchases of goods/services (based on the false-expectation of future reward), and on the internal purchases of further ill-informed recruits (based on their false-expectation of future reward), etc. ad infinitum, are absolutely banned. 

On pain of arrest or forfeiture of assets, the same Chinese law (theoretically) requires:

• all traditional, single level, direct sales companies, and their non-salaried sales agents, to operate under an annually-renewable license.

• all traditional, direct sales companies to pay-out commissions to one level only of non-salaried sales agents, and these commissions must be limited to a maximum of 30%.
• all traditional, single level, direct sales companies to provide extensive, ongoing free training for their non-salaried sales agents.
• all Chinese, non-salaried, direct sales agents not only to carry a license as proof of training and compliance with the law, but also to wear an identification badge whilst attempting to conduct sales.

Despite this legislation, in practice, unlicensed agents of 'MLM' cultic rackets have been able to enter China from the neighbouring legal jurisdictions of Taiwan and Hong Kong (where no common-sense 'MLM' banning-law has been introduced); whilst Chinese citizens have easily dodged the law by giving Taiwanese or Hong Kong addresses on their 'MLM' recruitment contracts, and by using Taiwanese or Hong Kong banks.

However, it is common-knowledge that China is one of, if not the most, corrupt countries on Earth. Furthermore, 'MLM' racketeers have ong-since realised that the introduction of any law, which is then not enforced, has the effect of authorising the very crime which the same law apparently sought to prohibit. 

The bosses of 'Herbalife' are just one of several US-based 'MLM' mobs who have been pretending to be in total compliance with the law in China, whilst bribing corrupt Chinese government officials to turn a blind eye to their copycat, hidden criminal enterprises.

Ever since instigation in 1980, 'Herbalife Ltd.' has been the legally-registered, Los Angeles-based, corporate-front for an 'Amway' copy-cat, blame-the-victim 'Multi-Level Marketing' cultic racket which, due to chronic international regulatory-failure (born of ignorance and/or corruption in the USA), has been allowed to become publicly-traded on Wall St. and to spread (with no appropriate official challenge) onto a global scale. 

Only when an honest observer looks beyond the end of his/her nose, and fully-recognises the profitable criminal enterprise that the 'MLM' fairy story has been hiding, does it become obvious that every move the wealthiest 'MLM' peddlers have made (and will continue to make) fits into an overall pattern of ongoing major racketeering activity (as defined by the US federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act, 1970).
 
'MLM' racketeers' have all been travelling down the same dark road from which there is no turning back. Consequently, their steps can be predicted with almost 100% accuracy; for they will go to almost any lengths to sustain their hidden criminal enterprises and to avoid being held personally to account.

As explained above, mystifying so-called 'MLM Income Opportunities' shielding infinite-level rigged-market swindles (a.k.a. pyramid schemes based on peddling the crack-pot pseudo-economic theory that endless-chain recruitment + endless purchases of products/services by the recruits = endless profits for the recruits) have supposedly been recognised and banned in China. However, until 2017, the 'Herbalife' racket had been steadily gnawing its way into China right under the noses of the regulatory authorities and state-controlled media. Predictably, 'Herbalife's' bosses have been pretending that unlike everywhere else in the world, in compliance with the 2005 Chinese legislation, 'Herbalife's' Chinese subsidiary does not offer an 'MLM income Opportunity.' Indeed, in 2016, 'Herbalife's' bosses falsely-declared to the US Securites and Exchange Commission that in excess of $800 millions (around 20% of global annual revenue) was deriving legally from China (i.e. without breaching any Chinese legislation identifying, and banning so-called 'MLM' schemes, as frauds, or breaching the US federal Foreign Corrupt Practices Act). 

In January 2017, to avoid any risk of being charged with withholding key-information from investors, the bosses of 'Herbalife' were obliged to declare publicly that senior employees of their Chinese subsidiary were under US federal investigation concerning acts of corruption, and that the results of this investigation could possibly have a detrimental effect of the company's share price. Typically, 'Herbalife's' bosses also announced an internal review which predictably resulted in the senior employees in question being blamed and fired and the 'policies and procedures' of 'Herbalife's' Chinese operation being 'enhanced.' 
 
Almost 2 years later, in a Manhattan federal court, the US Dept of Justice charged two former executives of 'Herbalife' (China) with bribing Chinese officials over a ten year period, destroying material evidence and lying to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to the DoJ, during the period 2007-2016, at least $25 millions had flowed through 'Herbalife's' Chinese External Affairs Dept., headed by Hongwei (a.k.a. Mary) Yang (a Chinese Citizen b. 1968), to supply gifts and entertainment to Chinese government officials. Along with the (former) Managing Director of 'Herbalife's' Chinese subsidiary, the appropriately-named Yangliang (a.k.a. Jerry) Li (a Chinese Citizen b. 1968), Ms. Yang was charged with conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Mr. Li was also charged with perjury and destruction of records in federal investigations.

The DoJ's idictment concluded that Ms. Yang and others had bribed key Chinese government officials for the purpose of:

• obtaining direct selling licenses for 'Herbalife' in China.
  

• preventing investigations into 'Herbalifes' real activities in China.
  

• suppressing negative coverage of 'Herbalife' by state-controlled Chinese media.

As far as I'm aware, the identities of the recipients of the 'Herbalife' bribes have not been fully-disclosed, except in the DoJ indictment it seems that one is referred to as the Deputy Director of the AIC (the Chinese equivalent of the FTC).

When you read the indictment, you also discover that federal prosecutors had access to incriminating audio recordings of conversations (dating back years) which the 'Herbalife' executives had with the officials whom they bribed. 

Indeed the content of the indictment begs many questions:

• who exactly gathered this evidence in China?

• why was this evidence not acted on sooner?

• how did this evidence find its way to US federal prosecutors?

• what has happened to the two Chinese 'Herbalife' executives and where are they?

• what has happened to the various corrupt central, and provincial, Chinese government officials whom the 'Herbalife' mob bribed?

• what has happened to the wives and adult children of the corrupt Chinese officials who also received bribes and who were, therefore, party to the conspiracy?

• how much money have the 'Herbalife' mob removed from China unlawfully?

• have the Chinese authorities sought to recoup this stolen money?

• will Bill Ackman be re-appearing in the 'Herbalife' saga, because during his failed attempt to short-sell 'Herbalife,' the company's declared annual revenues are now known to have been false - as a significant % of them were secretly being stolen in China, and 'Herbalife's' share-value was, therefore, being propped-up by what is now officially-recognised as being a hidden criminal enterprise.

One would have to be pretty stupid, and/or corrupt, not to deduce that Ms. Yang and Mr. Li cannot have been acting independently, because every devious crime they committed was ultimately to the financial benefit of 'Herbalife's' bosses. Indeed, every devious crime that these expendable little corporate soldiers committed in China must have been at the direction of 'Herablife's' generals in the USA - fitting perfectly into a pattern of overall major racketeering activity (as defined by the US federal RICO Act, 1970). 

I've said it before and I'll say it again: in respect of 'MLM' cultic racketeering, you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time (with the notable exception of the flock of amoral dunces with law diplomas temporarily holding down low-paid jobs with US federal government agencies).
  

Again, to avoid any risk of being charged with withholding key-information from investors, the bosses of 'Herbalife' have lately been obliged to declare publicly that $123 millions has been reserved to settle all these outstanding matters with the SEC and DoJ. However, what 'Herbalife's' attorneys are actually in the process of negotiating with SEC and DoJ attorneys, is not yet clear.

Furthermore, as far as I'm aware, as Chinese citizens Ms. Yang and Mr. Li, along with the various unamed key Chinese government officials whom they bribed (by order of 'Herbalife's'  American bosses), all risk being executed (if convicted of serious corruption under Chinese law). However, it is not clear whether any of them have yet been charged with any crime by the Chinese authorities or where Ms. Yang and Mr Li are. 

The questions here are absolutely endless, but no journalist seems to be very interested.  To date, the way these serious matters have been reported by the media, has been typically limp and misleading.

Today, October 17th. 2025, with 'MLM' pitchman, Donald Trump, again sat in the Oval Office (but now apparently in total control of the US Dept. of Justice and the US Federal Bureau of Investigations), the situation concerning US-based 'MLM' cultic racketeering has lately reached unprecedented levels of horror and farce. For there is no way that any criminal investigation, let alone a criminal prosecution, of any aspect of this historically significant criminogenic phenomenon would be allowed to proceed.

'Multi-Level Marketing' - Trump's stooge, Pam Bondi, heads the US Dept. of Justice, but fails the (reverse) Turing Test.

Meanwhile, starting with the instigators of 'Amway' (the original blame-the-victim 'Multi-Level Marketing' cultic racket) since 1979, the self-appointed bosses of a growing number of US-based, copycat 'MLM' cults have been permitted by agencies of the US federal government to get away with prosecuting a form of economic and psychological war, and on a world-wide scale. Indeed, by failing to recognize this historically significant criminogenic phenomenon, law enforcement agencies (and particularly American law enforcement agencies) have become a significant a part of it. For as a direct consequence of this chronic and catastrophic failure, today the Big 'MLM' Lie has been repeated so often, and without official challenge, that many people have come to accept it as the 'truth.'

In brief, the 'MLM' fiction, tells of an obtainable secure Utopian future on Earth, in which a secret (God given) knowledge can transform ordinary poor human beings into fabulously wealthy, happy, healthy and free superhumans - living dream lifestyles.  

Not surprisingly, deluded belief in the pernicious 'MLM' fairy story can have devastating results. Yet, to date around the world, law enforcement agencies have effectively run up the white flag of surrender to the various gangs of wealthy copycat crooks who have been allowed to peddle it. These cultic racketeers have been safe in the knowledge that the chances of them being held fully to account, have been zero. 

Today, with 'MLM' pitchman, Donald Trump, sat in the Oval Office (and in control of the Dept. of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Federal Trade Commission), this tragicomic situation has lately reached unprecedented levels of horror and farce.

 

In her recent carefully-scripted, obstructive performance in front of the US Senate Judiciary Committee, the current (temporary) US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, behaved like an inflexible robot programmed to attack anyone dissenting from the fictitious Utopian narrative that her programmer, Donald Trump, constantly recites as 'fact.' Indeed, Ms. Bondi might have a stack of legal qualifications, but it is more than evident that she has become the de facto deployable agent of her programmer and, therefore, not fit even to be trusted to make the coffee at the US Dept. of Justice, let alone run it. For clearly, she would fail the (reverse) Turing Test.

The (reverse) Turing Test

Following on from work he began in 1941, in 1950, Dr. Alan MathisonTuring published a paper, 'Computing Machinery and Intelligence,' in which he discussed the existing philosophical question of whether machines can think. He then proposed a test, in the form of a blind question and answer game, where computers would be used to try to convince humans that they were not engaging with machines, but with other humans. Thus, despite its appearance, the 'Turing Test' is not a high-brow parlour-game or even a scientific experiment to determine whether machines can think, but a rudimentary, logical test of whether an artificial mind can be made to appear to have the same cognitive capacity as the human mind. 

In recent years, various people have suggested ways in which the 'Turing Test' can be reversed, but, as far as I am aware, no one has yet suggested that Dr. Turing's celebrated thoughts on artificial intelligence, can also be applied to the study of the totalitarian/totalistic cult phenomenon. For due to their incapacity to engage with external reality, the inflexible core-adherents of totalistic cults have often been compared to robots. However, the way that exploitative, self-perpetuating non-rational ritual belief systems bait, trap and enslave their prey, by reflecting common human instinctual desires as being obtainable in exchange for absolute subservience, can also be compared to a phenomenon which Dr. Turing did not live to witness - computer viruses. Had Dr. Turing been able to continue his work, he might have eventually felt the need to propose a rudimentary, logical test of whether an artificial mind can be made to appear to have the same ego-related capacity to become delusional as the human mind. For although cult adherents insist that no one is controlling them and that they are excercizing free-will, nonetheless, illogically, and without exception, they all see the world in mechanical two-dimensional terms ('negative vs positive', 'us vs them' , 'good vs evil' , 'winners vs losers', etc.), communicate in code-like thought-stopping language and obey their de facto programmers without question, no matter what suffering this ultimately entails.

Given a detailed knowledge of any Utopian fiction modifying the personalities and behaviour of the core-adherents of a particular cultic group, it would, therefore, be a relatively simple matter to program a machine to duplicate the adherents' systematic responses (or indignant refusal to respond), to a series of blind questions concerning the contents of the group's fictitious controlling narrative. In other words, the predictable answers given by deluded core-cult adherents, and those given by machines programmed to duplicate human minds dissociated from external reality, would be indistinguishable.

Today, Dr. Turing is universally recognised as a giant, but tragic, figure who altered world history.

1931-1934, Alan Turing studied mathematics a Kings College Cambridge, graduating with a first class honours degree.

I935, Alan Turing (aged just 22) was elected as a fellow of Kings College. 

Alan Turing is the individual who, in 1936, set out and formalised the concepts which produced the Universal Turing machine - the first theoretical model for a general purpose computer. As a result, Dr.Turing is considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence. The central principle of today's computers (i.e. controlling the machine's operations by a program of coded instructions stored in a memory) was Alan Turing's original idea.

(1936-1938) Alan Turing studied mathematics and cryptology at Princeton University, obtaining a PhD in 1938.

During WWII, Dr. Turing (who had been talent-spotted and recruited by British Military Intelligence on his return to Cambridge in 1938) worked at the Government Code and Cypher School, Bletchley Park, where (by applying the principle that what can be constructed by a human mind, can also be taken to pieces another human mind) he developed various techniques for deciphering messages sent via the most-advanced version of the German 'Enigma' enciphering/deciphering machine. This electromechanical device (which had been in existence since the end of WWI), had previously been considered as completely secure. 

It is now a matter of historical record that, but for Dr.Turing, WWII would probably have dragged on at least until 1947.

When the wider picture is examined, Dr. Turing and his Bletchley Park colleagues could not have succeeded, but for the groundwork of Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Rozycki and Henryk Zygalski of the Polish Cypher Bureau. With the help of German documentation recovered by French military intelligence, in 1932 these three brilliant, young mathematician/cryptologists, first reverse-engineered the original Enigma machine using theoretical mathematics. Mechanical devices were then developed for deciphering intercepted-Enigma-encrypted radio messages, but after 1938, German cryptologists took the precaution of vastly-increasing the complexity of Enigma machines by adding extra rotors, and the Poles did not have the necessary resources to counter this sudden advance. Consequently, fearing an imminent German attack on their country, in July 1939, Polish leaders and intelligence chiefs handed over to British and French Military intelligence agents (stationed in Warsaw), everything that Polish cryptologists had managed to achieve. Subsequently, all tangible traces of this initial breach in the security of Enigma, were destroyed.

The timely, secret transfer of Polish expertise saved neither Poland nor France from invasion, but it did enable Dr. Turing and his colleagues to develop a much more powerful, and rapid, electromechanical calculating machine capable of decrypting almost all intercepted, heavily-encrypted Enigma-messages. The resulting massive-flow of important up-to-date strategic intelligence that the British government and military, air and naval, commanders obtained via Bletchley Park, was itself given the code-name, 'Ultra' a.k.a. the 'Ultra Secret.' At various times during WWII, Winston Churchill felt obliged not to act on 'Ultra' intelligence for fear that, by doing so, German intelligence would realise what was occurring. However, even though the evidence of a near-total communications security breach often stared them in the face, the leaders of the 'Aryan Master Race,' and their partners in crime, were evidently incapable of accepting that almost every move they ordered to be made, was known by their inferior opponents, before it was made. 

 

Winston Churchill reportedly told King George VI, that 'it was thanks to Ultra, that we won the War.' However, the 'Ultra Secret' remained closely-guarded until the 1970s, when the techniques involved, finally became out-dated. 

After the war, Dr. Turing (who had acquired a reputation as a charming, but eccentric, loner, prone to dramatic swings of mood) appeared to return to his previous academic career, but he continued to work in secret for GCHQ (the successor to Bletchley Park and equivalent of America's National Security Agency).

Officially, in 1954, Dr. Turing (aged 41) committed suicide by eating part of an apple which he had injected, and/or coated, with cyanide poison. However, although cyanide was found in Dr. Turing's body and at his home, the remains of the apple (recovered from a bedside table next to his body) were never tested. There are now a number of commentators calling for a full inquiry into Dr. Turing's enigmatic 'Snow White/ Wicked Queen'-style death; and particularly, to uncover what hidden role UK security services might have played in it.

In truth, Dr. Turing was effectively-executed in 1952 when he was arrested for, and convicted of, the (then) common criminal offence of 'gross indecency' (i.e. homosexual activity between consenting adults) and sentenced to chemical castration (i.e. as an alternative to a humiliating prison sentence, he was released on the condition that he accept female hormone injections for a period of 12 months). Given the fact that, in 1950s Britain, male homosexuals and  bisexuals were often physically attacked as dangerous paedophiles, perverts and pariahs, and could, if convicted of 'gross indecency,' be imprisoned for life, the events surrounding Dr. Turing's arrest, have never been fully-explained. For he went to his local police station in Manchester to report that he'd been the victim of a crime, and gave an apparently reckless statement in which he openly-admitted that he'd been involved in a passionate relationship with a much younger man who turned out to be a thief.

Although, in 1952, very few people knew the extraordinary truth about Dr. Turing's central role in the defeat of tyranny, evidently the British government (again led by Sir Winston Churchill) made absolutely no attempt to protect him and, instead, abandoned him to a fate which clearly he did not deserve. The fact that Winston Churchill partly built his own reputation in history by standing on the shoulders of intellectual giants (knowing that, for decades, they could not be given any credit), reveals his personal failure to intervene on behalf of Dr. Turing in 1952, to have been both morally-reprehensible and (surprisingly, for a Nobel Prize-winning historian) short-sighted. 

What  Dr. Turing was forced to endure in silence, is almost unimaginable. Apart from the fact that (like thousands of other gay British men) he was punished for something over which he had no control, he must also of been fully-aware that, in 1945, a significant number of 'Nazi' scientists  - like ballistic missile inventor, Werhner von Braun (a member of the SS who designed Hitler's so-called 'revenge weapons' which caused death and misery to thousands of slave labourers, not to mention death and mutilation to thousands of British men, women and children) - had been allowed to escape all prosecution as war criminals. The US government had offered them amnesty in return for their expertise. Ironically, von Braun (who was born in the same year as Alan Turing), was already, in 1954, an important and wealthy man in the USA. Von Braun was even awarded the US National Medal of Science two years before his death in 1977, but he was too ill to attend the presentation ceremony at the White House. Yet , even today, Dr.Turing's personal role in saving countless American lives and billions of dollars, has never been officially recognised in the USA.

In view of his own previous achievement, and his youth, Dr.Turing's unjust categorisation as a degenerate, could easily have been recognised by the British government as being contrary to national interests. Indeed, the 'Nazis' had caused many of Europe's most-brilliant thinkers (like Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr) to flee to the USA. As Jews, they too were also unjustly categorised as degenerate. These same European scientists, first took a leading role in persuading the US Government to commit funds to develop the Atomic bomb - knowing that the 'Nazis' were already on the same path. They then took a leading role in developing the Atomic bomb.

Unfortunately, in 1952, British Intelligence agencies, under pressure from their American counterparts, were operating a rule preventing known-homosexuals being given security clearance. At that time, many gay men were being unjustly removed from key-positions in Britain, particularly, in the armed forces and civil service. Mainly due to the illegality of homosexual activity, they were rightly considered to be easy blackmail targets. The previous year, British intelligence had been heavily-embarrassed when two of its agents, Guy Burgess and Kim Philby (both of whom were homosexuals who had been secretly groomed and recruited by KGB agents, when they were university students), had disappeared to the Soviet Union after passing secret intelligence to the Soviets for 20 years.Thus, after his arrest, Dr. Turing had his security clearance immediately revoked and he was excluded from GCHQ. Evidently, he must have been placed under M15 surveillance as a major security threat  - another possible defector and KGB blackmail target, but with access to the greater part of the Ultra Secret, and to Cold War, code-breaking techniques.

In 1953, Dr. Turing is known to have been interviewed by British police officers, this time regarding a young Norwegian man who had been visiting with him. He is also known to have taken a holiday in Greece which, due to its proximity to the Soviet Empire, must have really got his MI5 case officers in a flap. However, the extent and nature of the British security services' contact with Dr. Turing in the two years prior to his death, has never been made public.

Although Dr. Turing's friends and family (who initially knew nothing of his historically-important work as a codebreaker) continued to believe that he died accidentally after handling cyanide during a chemistry experiment, other informed-observers have lately-concluded that there is a very strong likelihood he was silenced by MI5, who deliberately applied pressure on him knowing that he would crack and kill himself. For after WWII, a number of captured Enigma machines were sold by the victorious Allies to developing countries whose leaders and intelligence chiefs had been led to believe that, in its most-advanced form, Enigma was still completely secure. In reality, and unbeknown to the coroner who pronounced a verdict of suicide, at the time of Dr. Turing's death, British, French and American intelligence agencies were all regularly intercepting Enigma-encrypted messages. These top secret communications (some of which must have contained commercially-valuable inside-information) might as well have all been written in plain language due to the computing techniques which Dr. Turing had developed for, and given to, his country.

Had Dr. Turing made a run for it and blown the whistle on the vast intelligence-gathering Enigma fraud, then all Hell might have broken loose.

September 10th 2009, following an Internet-based campaign, British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, made an official apology for 'the appalling and inhumane way Dr. Turing was treated.' However, Mr. Brown conveniently failed to point out that this 'appalling inhumane treatment,' had been at the hands of a overtly-homophobic, but (in many cases) covertly-homosexual, British establishment - the hypocritical members of which had mostly-failed to recognise, let alone challenge, the rise of the pernicious 'Nazi' ritual belief system.

In May 2012, a private member's Bill was put before the UK House of Lords to grant Dr. Turing a statutory pardon for his criminal conviction of 1952. However, on December 23rd, 2013, it was announced that Dr. Turing had been granted a pardon under the (rarely-used) Royal Prerogative of Mercy.
